What should I title you?

Hey guys! I was looking over some notes for my TRW verse. A little background, it’s an alternate history where Princess Charlotte of Wales (cousin to Queen Victoria and original heir to the British throne) didn’t die and lived to become queen. I’m kind of mixing genres potentially with this series. It’s kinda gaslamp fantasy/steampunkish if that makes any earthly sense haha. It’ll be likely a mash up of the Regency and Victorian eras.

Anyway I just wrote the second piece in the series. I don’t have a title for it and I haven’t posted it anywhere else because it doesn’t really fit with the guidelines of my usual place. So I thought I’d put it here. I’d love to here what you think of it

“It’s quite indecent,” Mary whispered.

Adelaide moved forward slightly. She had the Queen and her visitor in view. She could make out a few words, but she couldn’t string anything coherent together.

“I mean she’s meeting him in her private quarters,” Mary said.

“Shhh!”

Mary sniffed.

“Could…teach…Leopold?” Adelaide made out of the conversation.

“The Prince?”

Adelaide scoffed. “Plato himself couldn’t teach that buffoon.”

“Assistant…require?” Adelaide mouthed.

“He’s looking for an assistant?” Mary asked.

Adelaide heard the queen say something else to the doctor. He bowed to the queen before backing away.

“What is it?” Mary asked.

Adelaide sat back on the plush couch.

“I think the doctor is looking for a research assistant,” Adelaide said rubbing her chin.

“But why would he come to the palace looking for an assistant? Wouldn’t he do better to check at the universities?”

Adelaide nodded.

“Mary, would you come here?” Charlotte called from the next room.

Mary popped up and rushed off to the Queen. Adelaide rubbed her hands together. She wondered what Dr. Bellamy was about and she intended to find out.
