This is my first official entry for National Poetry Writing Month. I first heard about this month about two or three years ago and I cannot tell you how excited I was. This poem was written as an answer to today’s challenge which was to write a lune, which is an American form of the haiku.

I was inspired by the name and associated legends and by the unfortunate death of my grandmother a month ago. Poetry has always been my way to deal with intense emotions.
